The Euro Exhibition gives visitors the opportunity to learn about the euro banknotes and coins, as well as their security features, in an appealing and interactive way. The background design of the exhibition panels features the bridges depicted on the euro banknotes.

Other eye-catching elements include:

interactive touch screens
showcases displaying genuine euro banknotes alongside counterfeit banknotes in order to highlight the security features
exciting games, copies of the children’s booklet entitled “Anna and Alex take on the banknote forgers”, as well as life-size figures of the heroes in the kids’ corner
leaflet dispensers containing a broad selection of information for visitors to take home with them.

The exhibition has a modular structure, enabling it to be easily and quickly adapted for a wide range of venues. It has six modules in total and requires up to 100 square metres of floor space. If you are interested, please contact us by writing to info@ecb.int.

Welcome module
Banknotes module
This module consists of two displays. The first display not only explains the history, the main features and the design of the euro banknotes, but also tells you more about what the European Central Bank and the euro area national central banks are doing to always remain at least one step ahead of counterfeiters. The second display describes how the euro banknotes are made, how the production process is organised and what happens to banknotes that are no longer fit for circulation.

Some of the showcases are even equipped with either a mechanism for tilting the banknotes or UV light to help visitors view the security features more easily.

Have you ever wondered why there are so many different designs for the national sides of the euro coins? Well, this module gives visitors the opportunity to find out more about the designs for the common and national sides of the euro coins and how they were chosen.
History of money module
This display takes visitors on a journey through the exciting history of money, which spans thousands of years. It explains exactly what money is and provides an overview of many different forms that it has taken over the years, including barter, commodity money, coins, paper money and most recently, electronic money.

Kids’ corner
Guaranteed fun for everyone! Here children and adults alike can play exciting games or view presentations on the many touch screens that are located in this area. There is also a chance to meet the life-size figures of Anna and Alex, who are the heroes of the children’s story “Anna and Alex take on the banknote forgers”.
