Mobilise collateral

Underlying assets

When transferring eligible marketable assets issued in a CSD or ICSD, counterparties make use of the securities settlement systems (SSSs) which are regularly assessed and deemed eligible.

For non-marketable assets (i.e. credit claims and Irish retail mortgage-backed promissory notes), the Eurosystem NCBs have implemented national handling solutions which differ from country to country.

Links between SSSs

A link between two SSSs consists of a set of procedures and arrangements for the cross-border transfer of securities through book-entry process. A link takes the form of an omnibus account opened by an SSS (the investor SSS) in another SSS (the issuer SSS).

CCBM

Within the Correspondent Central Banking Model (CCBM), counterparties may obtain credit from their "Home Central Bank" on the basis of collateral transferred to another NCB, the Correspondent Central Bank (CCB).
